Causes
Some causes of thrush include:
-Medications, like corticosteroids, antibiotics, and birth control pills
-Illnesses or medical situations, like uncontrolled diabetes, HIV infection, cancer, dry mouth, and hormonal changes during pregnancy
Symptoms
The main symptom of thrush is a creamy white and slightly raised lesion in your mouth. It typically grows on your tongue, inner cheeks, root of your mouth, gums, tonsils, or back of your throat. The lesion usually appears suddenly and it sticks around for a long period of time.
Treatments
Treatments for thrush generally include taking prescribed medication, like antifungal medication, to eliminate the infection. Sometimes your dentist will provide a dental treatment that will be specific for your age and the reason for the thrush.
